| San Pancho is the best of two vacation worlds. On one hand it is small enough to be charming, authentic and easily accessed by foot; on the other hand its menu of activities is as vast as any resort.
San Pancho's latest adition Las Hertas, is a 9-hold 32 par golf course, challenging enough even for lower handicappers. It is beautifully set in the middle of an orchard with beautifully landscaped grounds and ocean views. You may also consider a walking tour n the jungle with birdwatcher Luis Morales; deep sea fishing with Pando, or renting a board, learning to surf and going on a safari with Alonzo at San Pancho's Surf Shop. You can hike along the beach to Sayulita, take an early morning jungle run, or ride one of Rafael's horses into the sunset. Visit the Marine Turtle Preservation's nursery, and if your timing is right, take part in a turtle release. Guides Tomara and Rhett offer sea kayaking adventures for paddlers of all levels along the wild Pacific coast. If all that running about has you longing to relax, spend an afternoon browsing through the shops and galleries in "downtown" San Pancho. or relax those sore musicls with a long, deep muscle massage in your casita or at the Astral Yoga Center, just one block from the Inn. If you would like to see how one young Americanwoman made a world of difference in our village, visit Entreamigos, a community center with children and adult libraries, language, computer, arts and gymnastics programs, as well as the town's recycling project, crafts shop and community garden where volunteers meet and work daily from 11 to 2PM For excursions further afield, Linzi, or one of her experienced guides (email: sweettimessayulita@hotmail.com), will pick you up in her van and give you time to shop at La Penita's colorful Thursday market, lead you along the river to the Petroglyphs, and through the jungle to the hot springs. She will pack picnic lunches for secluded beach excursions or tak you for teriyaki at our friend Jim's delicious restaurant in Guayabitos. Climb Monkey Mountain on horseback or zipline under the canopy in nearby Sayulita, swim with dolphins, or visit the old mining town of San Sebastian, high in the Sierras, but less than two hours drive away. Tours and transportation are easily arranged through various local companies, including Diva Tours, which as excellent vehicles and drivers and chages $135 for round trip airport transfer. Think about incorporating a Spanish language program, polo lessons at La Patrona Polo Club, or a photography safari with Paco. Did I meantion watercolor lessons? Back at the Inn, pluck a fruit from our lime tree for your margarita, dress down and watch the sun set on another day in paradise. San Pancho, just 45 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta's International Airport, was officially christened the Cultural Capital of the State of Nayarit in 2009. Embraced by the Sierra Madre Mountains, surrounded by lush jungle with a broad mile-long beach, SanPancho is unquestionably the jewel of Mexico's stunning Riviera Nayarit and the perfect hub for a glorious vacation. |
